Dear Members of Detroit Catholic Deaf Community:
The 2020 Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) is now underway! Due to the pandemic, the appeal had been postponed to this month. In the past, we normally started in May to ask people to make contributions to CSA.
Needless to say, the Archdiocese is suffering a huge financial impact from the panedmic. I, along with Archdiocese of Detroit, appreciated your support of last year’s CSA and I ask you to once again to make a financial contribution this year.
CSA allows the Archdiocese to continue many programs and services benefitting countless people in southeastern Michigan especially those who are poor. One of their programs and services is Deaf Ministry at St. John’s Deaf Center and Our Lady of Loretto Church.
If it was not for people who made financial contributions to CSA in the past, then the Archdiocese probably would be forced to cut back services and ministries supporting various groups such as the Catholic Deaf, social services for the poor, etc. This is why it is very important that we make a donation to CSA.
The Archdiocese asks Deaf Catholics from St. John’s Deaf Center and our Lady of Loretto Church to raise $5,100 for CSA. I ask that each family / household make more than $100 donation to CSA. If you truly cannot afford to donate $100, then please donate whatever you can, like $50, $30., or $25. Because the Archdiocese keeps track of number of people from each church who make donations to CSA, it is very important that they see many contributions from the Catholic Deaf Community.
If you have questions about making a donation to CSA, then please talk with me or Paul Kuplicki, Sr.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to support and make a contribution to CSA.
God bless.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Michael Depcik, OSFS
Director

Dear Members of Detroit Catholic Deaf Community:
I pray that you and your family are well and safe especially during this pandemic which affects everyone.
Last week you had received the letter from Fr Mike explaining why it is important for us to support 2020 Catholic Services Appeal (CSA). With CSA support, we are very fortunately to have Fr. Mike Depcik as our Director and Veronica Balcarcel as our Pastor Ministry. The Archdiocese also continues to support Deaf Ministry at St. John’s Deaf Center and Our Lady of Loretto Church (i.e. many
services and ministries supporting various groups such as the Catholic Deaf, social services for the poor, etc.).
You will probably receive a letter from the Archdiocese with pledge card this week. There are two options to pay CSA (St. Johns Deaf Center, Eastpointe):
1) Mail the pledge card with your payment (credit card or check). Make check payable to “Archdiocese of Detroit – CSA”
2) Pay online via www.givecsa.org. Making a donation online is safe, easy and quick. See attached PDF titled “How to donate CSA by online”.
Please contact me or Fr Mike if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your support CSA. Stay safe with God’s blessings.

For online donations (link below) please make sure to choose "St. John's Deaf Center" to ensure your monetary gift gets credited to the Catholic Deaf Community.
Thanks!
The theme for the 2020 Catholic Services Appeal takes inspiration from the city of Detroit’s motto given by Fr. Gabriel Richard, “We hope for better things; it will rise from the ashes. ”These are also the words Jesus speaks to his disciples after the Transfiguration: “Rise and be not afraid”(Matthew 17:7).
This year, as our families, parishes, and communities find ways to continue the mission of Christ amid new challenges, we are reminded that we too must rise up, follow Christ, and share with others the peace and joy that comes from knowing we are loved and that God is with us at all times. Please consider making a gift today.
